Tips for keeping your pets safe from wildlife
Full Description:
Recent reports of wildlife-related
incidents have prompted concern
from some of our residents.
Englewood’s Animal Control Officers
offer the following
tips for helping
keep your pets safe
from wildlife.
Don’t feed the
wildlife - feeding
foxes, raccoons,
and other wildlife
makes them less
fearful of humans.
It can also disturb
the natural balance of the area’s ecology
and encourage the spread of disease.
Plus, human food can upset the
complex digestive systems of some
wildlife species.
Keep your pets inside or make
sure you accompany them when they
go outside. Make sure your trash can is
securely covered - Keeping a tightfitting
lid on your trash can will help
keep wildlife out of it. In fact, according to City codes, trash cans
are required to have securely fitting
lids, and cannot be placed out for
pickup until 24 hours before pickup.
