Bergen Family Center Holds Friends of the Family Annual Dinner & Wish List Auction

Bergen Family Center, Bergen County’s oldest continually operating family service agency will be holding its annual Friends of the Family Awards Dinner and Auction on November 7, 2007 at 6pm at the Rockleigh Country Club. Distinguished honorees this year are Englewood residents and volunteers Carolyn & George Milne and Thomas “Moose” Monroe. Bergen Family Center supports, strengthens and enriches family life through innovative programs and quality services in such areas as: Children’s Services, Eldercare, and Family Counseling. Honorees, Carolyn and George Milne have been long-time members of many Englewood organizations. Carolyn, a teacher at Elisabeth Morrow School for more than 30 years, has served as a member of the First Presbyterian Church Preschool and Kindergarten Board and is currently serving on various committees at the Flat Rock Brook Nature Center. George is the past-President of the Community Chest of Englewood and also serves at the Flat Rock Brook Nature Center. He is Co-Treasurer and Executive Committee member of the Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. Thomas “Moose” Monroe also spent more than thirty years teaching and coaching in Englewood. Thomas has counseled HIV/AIDS infected individuals and has recently started working with the ZONE, a School Based Youth Services Program at Dwight Morrow High School and the Academies. Thomas's service to Englewood cannot be limited to his tenure as an educator and coach; he was also a mentor to, and role model for, many youth in his community. Honorary Chair of the dinner is Joan Van Alstyne Johnson and committee members are Liz Corsini, Kelly Spitzley, Monica Borg, Susan Del Rio, Georgie Evans, John Gunther, Marian Imperatore, Anna Merker, Alexis Pizzurro, Helen Rapfogel, Arianne Schreer, and MaryBeth Sigler-Garcia.
